This book is the first collection of Somali folktales to be published in Russian, and contains 202 texts collected by foreign folklorists and by the author. The introduction presents an ethnographic essay on the inhabitants of the Horn of Africa, while the appendices consist of a glossary of untranslatable words, a commentary and an article on the subjects and motifs of Somali folktales.
